Arrive & dive in
Madrid · 27–31 August 2026
Madrid,but make it easy.
No sightseeing marathon. Our long weekend blends a rooftop pool, queer art, Chueca, excellent food and nights that are absolutely allowed to run a little late.
M×K×D
Real Madrid memories in motion
The rhythm
A holiday for repeat visitors.
We already know Madrid. So there are no compulsory landmarks – just satisfying contrasts: one special place in the morning, pool or sauna in the afternoon, then exactly as much Chueca as feels right.
Queer art & Octopus
The big pool day
Rastro optional, pool certain
Last sunshine & fly home
Keep the best sunshine hours beautifully free.
Only one cultural anchor per day.
Bars, club or bed – follow the mood.

Your long weekend
Five days with room to breathe.
Times are anchors, not military orders. Everything is arranged so you can linger, skip ahead or retreat straight back to the pool.
Soft landing
Thursday · 27 AugustThe trip begins exactly where it belongs: on the roof.
Arrive, unpack, dive in.
Land in Madrid
Collect the bags and head to the official taxi rank. The fixed fare inside the M-30 is €33.
Rooftop pool & first vermouth
Meet the city again from above, arrive properly and achieve absolutely nothing.
Easy dinner at Mercado de San Antón
Plenty of choice, very little commitment and perfectly placed for Chueca.
✦The pool wins every tie today.
Art + heat
Friday · 28 AugustOne cultural anchor, then lunch, siesta and a fresh conversation with your body temperature.
Queer art, Lavapiés and Octopus.
Slow breakfast
Gran Vía is waking up. You do not need to hurry with it.
Félix Gonzalez-Torres: Sweet Revenge
The Reina Sofía exhibition connects love, loss, AIDS history and queer intimacy – perfect for repeat visitors.
Lunch at Mercado de San Fernando
Relaxed Lavapiés: small counters, cold drinks and no formal table choreography.
Hotel pause
Air conditioning, a short nap or one cheeky hour by the pool.
Sauna Octopus
Uncomplicated, body-positive and especially popular with bears and a more mature crowd. Weekend continuous opening starts Friday.
✦Book Casa Macareno; decide everything else by energy.
Pool is the plan
Saturday · 29 AugustDoing nothing is not a gap in today's programme. It is the programme.
The luxuriously empty pool day.
Late breakfast & coffee
A small Gran Vía loop, then straight back to the roof.
Rooftop residency
Claim a lounger, read, swim, snack. Find shade at midday and reapply sunscreen.
Reset
Shower, nap, music. Enough time for the evening to feel like an entirely new day.
Special dinner at Kuoco
Creative, worldly cooking on Calle Barquillo – the one night worth a proper reservation.
LL Bar or freestyle Chueca
Start with a show and drinks, or simply drift through Chueca instead.
Strong
The Saturday club move for a more electronic, cruisier energy. Check the latest programme/flyer first.
✦Book Kuoco early. Everything after dinner stays optional.
Choose your own Sunday
Sunday · 30 AugustSunday comes in two versions: get curious early or commit to the lie-in.
Rastro optional. Pool certain.
Option A: El Rastro
Only if you are awake: one focused lap instead of a market marathon. Official Sunday hours are 09:00–15:00.
Brunch/lunch at El Viajero
A rooftop garden and La Latina's Sunday mood – equally good after Rastro or a lie-in.
Last full pool session
The non-negotiable part of the day. One more city panorama, water and absolutely no obligations.
Rooftop dinner & final Chueca round
Begin at the hotel, then one last drink with no club obligation. Monday should still be kind.
✦Option B: delete Rastro and sleep longer. Absolutely no guilt.
One last look
Monday · 31 AugustNo frantic goodbye – just a clean, generous finish.
Last sunshine, then the airport.
Breakfast & pack
Get fully travel-ready so the final hour is genuinely free.
One last rooftop moment
Coffee with a view; if the pool area is not open yet, the city can carry the scene.
Check out
Settle the bill, grab water for the journey and order a taxi.
Taxi to the airport
Aim to reach the terminal around 12:15, leaving a comfortable buffer for the 14:55 flight.
Take off
With sunglasses in your hand luggage and an extremely sensible pool-to-culture ratio.
Madrid Ideas Board
What are we missing?
M knows Madrid, K brings an outside perspective – and good ideas deserve a home. Search for a place, add your personal reason and send it straight to our shared board.
Your extra ideas
Nothing set in stone. Just a collection for spontaneous decisions once we are there.
Chueca after dark
Gay guide: follow the mood, not a checklist.
Three saunas and three ways to do the night – with enough context to choose the right energy on the day.
Late-afternoon saunas
Octopus
The best Friday choice: body-positive, relaxed and continuously open across the weekend from Friday.
DetailsParaíso
Lots of different areas and usually a younger, mixed crowd. A good choice if Sunday still has energy.
DetailsSauna Center
The no-clock-stress backup on Calle Valverde – useful when the plan changes spontaneously.
DetailsNightlife by mood
Show & drinks
Funny, social and commitment-free. LL shows usually start around 22:30; El 12 is an easy first drink.
Pop & dance
Start with a drink on Calle San Marcos, then go poppier and later at DLRO on Friday or Saturday.
Electronic & cruise
Darker, electronic and sex-positive. Check the specific 29 August party shortly before the trip.
!Opening hours and individual club programmes can change. Recheck the venue's flyer or Instagram on the day.
Eat well
Five excellent addresses. No tourist trap.
From an easy market dinner to a special Saturday night – every option fits naturally into the route.
Thu · easy arrival
Mercado de San Antón
Plenty of choice and a terrace in central Chueca. Perfect when nobody wants a major restaurant decision after flying.
Fri · lunch
Mercado de San Fernando
A more local, relaxed Lavapiés market – ideal immediately after the Reina Sofía.
Fri · traditional
Casa Macareno
Charming Spanish classics and vermouth in Malasaña. Unpretentious, lively and worth reserving.
Sat · special
Kuoco
Creative fusion cooking with a Michelin selection. Your special dinner night; definitely book ahead.
Sun · rooftop
El Viajero

Good to know
Less friction, more Madrid.
Airport → hotel
Official taxi: fixed €33 fare inside the M-30. The easiest option with luggage.
Hotel → Chueca
Roughly 12–15 minutes on foot. Almost everything at night is walkable.
Heat logic
Water, SPF 50 and shade before lunch. The rooftop restaurant serves daily 13:00–23:15 in summer; confirm pool hours at check-in.
Monday
Order a taxi around 11:30. That leaves a comfortable buffer for the 14:55 flight.
